KATHRYN ODDY

Senior Physiototherapist

Hi, I am Kathryn, I qualified as a graduate with a diploma in physiotherapy in 1987 from the Middlesex Hospital School of Physiotherapy, London and have been a member of the Chartered Society Of Physiotherapy and registered with the Health Professions Council ever since. I have gained my experience in the NHS, charitable and private sector developing an interest in a variety of approaches to exercise including Pilates, Tai Chi, hydrotherapy (now known as aquatic therapy), sports specific rehabilitation and functional fitness for the older adult. I have been involved in physiotherapy programmes delivering screening, strength and conditioning programmes to young elite golfers through to creating individualised physiotherapy regimes for residents of a care home.

From 2004 to 2019 I worked in private practice in North Cumbria and have been a member of Physiofirst, the organisation of Chartered Physiotherapists in Private Practice, since 2000.

I favour the orthopaedic medicine approach to assessment but tailor hands on treatments, electrotherapy, acupuncture and exercise prescriptions to each individual client according to their needs.

I am a member of the Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists with an interest in acupuncture (and electroacupuncture for chronic pain) for pain relief, also I am a member of the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Neurology and the Aquatic Therapy Association of Chartered Physiotherapists.

My challenge in life has been to maintain a healthy balance between work and family, I married in 1989, we have 3 children aged 29, 26 and 22, all of whom have now left home, and we have moved from North Devon to North Yorkshire, to North Cumbria and the Scottish Borders and recently back to North Yorkshire.

My personal passion is family and also I try to keep as fit and active as possible, preferably outdoors with our young, very boisterous cocker spaniel. My passion in work is to be alongside each client, to identify and agree their physiotherapy requirements and to encourage and facilitate each individual to achieve their personal physio goals and optimal quality of life! I look forward to meeting you.
