Georgie Kemp is one of our awesome sessional physiotherapists here at Tayloredfit Physio. Let us hear more from Georgie and get to know her a little better – we put these questions to Georgie – any surprises in there??
Tell us a bit about yourself and the name and nature of your role
I am Georgie Kemp, I work full time as a physiotherapist in the NHS, specialising in treating patients with Musculo-Skeletal problems. I enjoy working at TayloredFit two evenings a week as a Physiotherapist as well as teaching Pilates classes to an amazing group of individuals.
Tell us about your work
I see people of all different ages and backgrounds to help them manage injury, pain and illness by providing an individualised and holistic approach to allow people to live a strong, happy and healthy life. In my Pilates classes, I aim to help people connect with their body and mind working on strength, control and body awareness.
Who should benefit from coming to see you?
Anyone concerned about an existing Musculo-Skeletal problem, I enjoy taking the time to listen to you as an individual and help you achieve your personal and physical goals, plus those wishing to get fitter through regular Pilates exposure.
What are the best bits about what you do?
I love working with my clients on a one-to-one basis and figuring out how I can create a tailored solution for each person. This can either be in a physiotherapy consultation or through individual help in a Pilates class.
What are the biggest challenges about what you do?
I love my work so much that my main problem is taking time to consider my own time and energy limitations!
Why did you choose to collaborate with Tayloredfit?
I wanted to share in a bit of the magic!! TayloredFit is all about us making the most of ourselves and exploring ways to do that. It is innovative, caring and down-to-earth, I love this ethos!
What are your business goals in the next 5 years?
I want to keep learning – by further developing my physiotherapy knowledge and experience and by undertaking the next level of Pilates teacher training.
Where is your favourite place to go on holiday?
It’s not very exotic – but I especially love a relaxing holiday in Scotland or near my family in Hampshire. You have the best of both worlds – a chance to undertake watersports on the Solent and to cycle and walk in the stunning New Forest.
Who makes you laugh?
My sister Philippa, she does amazing impressions and is very quick to deliver a hilarious comment. As far as professional comedians go, I love Kevin Bridges – I grew up in Scotland and have lots of Glaswegian family so do get the extra dimension in the jokes!
What is your top tip to staying healthy in mind and body?
Find some form of movement that you love and try to fit a couple of sessions into your week! It doesn’t really matter what it is, so long as you love it – so anything from dog-walking to Scottish country dancing to weight-lifting!
Tell us a random, interesting or funny story about you!
My Mum said I slept 23 hours of the day for the first 6 weeks of my life, which seemed very weird to her and explains why photos of me as a new-born are very few and far-between!
Thanks so much Georgie for giving us an insight into who you are behind the scenes!! If you’d like to attend one of Georgie’s pilates classes, they’re on a Monday evening – or attend a physiotherapy appointment on a Tuesday evening.
