Tayloredfit Teamworks – Nathan

Dec 12, 2025

Nathan is one of our amazing physiotherapists and sports massage therapists. You may also know he has a wealth of knowledge with strength and conditioning and with his military and rugby background, we thought you would like to know a bit more about our fabulous Aussie!

Tell us a bit about yourself and the name or nature of your role.

I’m Nathan Welsh, a physiotherapist (MSc Advanced Sports Performance Science) and long-time Strength & Conditioning coach. I split my time between clinical MSK work, performance rehab, and coaching, drawing on 16 years in the Parachute Regiment where I served as a PTI. I now train Young Officers to prepare for and pass their P Company test, alongside my physio and performance work.

Tell us more about your work

I help people move, perform, and feel better, whether that’s returning from injury, building strength, or preparing for demanding selection courses or sport. My approach blends physio, S&C, and sports science: clear loading plans, measurable progress, and education so clients understand the “why” behind what we do. I take a simple and straightforward approach, and I’ll work hard with you to achieve the results you need and want.

It’s not just about fixing the injured area. I look deeper to understand why an issue started, how someone moves, how they load, and what’s driving the problem. That depth means we can not only resolve pain but also rebuild resilience and prevent setbacks.

Who would benefit from coming to see you?

Active people with stubborn MSK issues such as hamstring, groin, shoulder, neck, or low back pain.
Runners, rugby players, and tactical athletes rebuilding capacity or chasing performance.
People looking to rehab and rebuild their ability to run, lift, or play sport again.
Anyone who wants a no-nonsense plan that respects real life, work, and family.

What are the best bits about what you do?

Seeing confidence come back, whether that’s someone moving from pain-limited to hitting PBs, or people who are rehabbing and rebuilding their ability to run, lift, or play sport again. I take a simple, straightforward approach and work hard alongside you to get the results you need and want. I also love breaking down complex ideas so they’re easy to understand, giving clients those “I get it” moments.

What are the biggest challenges about what you do?

There’s so much conflicting advice out there that people often arrive overwhelmed and unsure what to believe. A big part of my job is cutting through that noise and giving them a simple, realistic plan to follow. Another challenge is keeping people patient, as healing and adaptation take time and there aren’t shortcuts.

I also go beyond just treating the injured area. The challenge, and the part I enjoy, is digging into why the problem started in the first place, looking at how someone moves, how they load, and the patterns behind their pain. That depth is what makes the difference in stopping issues from coming back.

Why did you choose to work with Tayloredfit?

Good people, high standards, and a team that genuinely puts patients first. Tayloredfit matches my evidence-based, practical style, with no gimmicks, just what works.

What are your professional or personal goals in the next 5 years?

I want to continue growing as a physiotherapist by adding therapies such as acupuncture and enhancing my massage techniques. I also aim to develop performance rehab pathways that bridge the gap between injury and full performance, and to be part of a clinic environment that blends physio, rehab, and S&C under one roof.

On a personal level, I’ve set myself some big challenges: competing in the British Indoor Rowing Championships and completing a marathon carrying 100lbs in under 4 hours.

Where is your favourite place to go on holiday?

Australia, and really anywhere as long as I’m with my family.

Who makes you laugh?

My kids, without even trying. And the changing room on a rugby Saturday.

What is your top tip to staying healthy in mind and body?

Lift, walk, and sleep consistently. Eat mostly protein and plants. Progress load slowly, and deload before your body forces you to. For the mind, limit the scroll, get daylight early, and do something hard on purpose every week.

Tell us a random, interesting, or funny story about you!

I’ve rowed a marathon on the erg (2:46:00). I also once strapped up and put my arm protection on the wrong arm for a rugby game, and managed to play the full match without realising. It only clicked when I saw the photos the next day.

Thank you so much Nathan!! I am sure you will agree, what an absolutely amazing insight into the man who has become one our most popular and effective clinicians here at Tayloredfit Physio.
